Could You Go Sober for Sight Concern in September?
During lockdown most of us have enjoyed having a drink or three, and there’s nothing to be ashamed of in that, but it’s also equally important to keep a balanced lifestyle, especially where your eye health is concerned. Excessive consumption of alcohol can have a detrimental effect on your eye health and lead to complications in later life. Everyone knows how important sight is, that’s why we are starting a campaign called Sober September, where we encourage you to raise funds for Sight Concern Worcestershire and to go without any booze for a whole month! This has the dual benefit of both improving your health and well-being whilst raising much-needed funds for a great local charity that provides essential support to people with sight loss.
Corona Virus has, needless to say, brought a lot of challenges to all of us, but for people with Sight Loss the world has become a much more frightening place. Social Distancing making it difficult for sight-impaired people to get around safely and with support from their community, it has also meant people who already have health problems are a lot more scared about going out into the public.
We aim to support people as best we can and provide them with much-needed support, be that Volunteer Befrienders giving them regular phone calls to help fend off loneliness to our Sight Loss Advisors who provide essential information, advice, and support aimed at improving the lives of people with Sight Loss and helping them build up confidence that they have lost during this difficult time.
Giving up the booze for four short weeks while raising a few pennies through our Virgin Money page helps us to keep doing that for a long time to come. And the bonus is you’re helping to protect your own sight too!
