Sight Concern Worcestershire needs an enthusiastic and creative person to coordinate our marketing, engagement and events activity. This is a crucial role at an exciting time of development at Sight Concern Worcestershire.
Whether you are just starting your career or have a few years’ experience, we want to hear from you. We need someone who will make sure that the whole of Worcestershire knows about us and the work we do. You will be responsible for managing and growing our social media channels, creating materials to support and explain our services, coordinating fundraising events, telling people about the impact we have and keeping our clients and supporters up-to-date and engaged. You must be committed to providing information in accessible formats and developing the skills to do so if you do not already have them.

Job Title: Community Engagement and Events Coordinator
Hours: 37.5 hours, Monday – Friday 9.00-5.00 with flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as required.
Salary: £12.03-£13.33 per hour £23,985 – £26000 pa
Responsible to: Head of Operations
Location: This role is based at the administrative quarters for Sight Concern Worcestershire at 2 Sansome Walk , Worcester, WR1 1LH. The role is likely to involve regular travel across the county.
Contract: 12 months initial contract (6 months probationary period)

Overall Objectives:
To develop and deliver a blend of engaging communications which demonstrate, share and celebrate the services offered by Sight Concern Worcestershire.
To develop internal and external communications.
To plan and deliver a range of information and fundraising events.
Impact:
More people with sensory loss/impairment will realise the benefits of our support and engage with our services.
Friends, family and professionals will feel more confident to refer people to us for support.
We will increase the number of volunteers and they will feel confident to ask for support when required and to promote the charity.
We will increase the number of supporters and income streams.
Main Accountabilities:
- Develop and implement the charity’s marketing and communications
- Develop the charity’s social media presence through the creation and delivery of a new social media strategy.
- Produce and publish engaging content across all communication platforms.
- Support the planning, delivery and promotion of charity fundraisers and events.
- Support the planning, delivery and promotion of other Sight Concern Worcestershire events.
- Prepare timely press releases and identify opportunities to create regular news articles.
- Maintain, update and develop the charity’s website.
- Create, edit and publish the charity’s regular newsletter.
- Design and create a range of marketing materials to promote the charity’s services.
- Assist in the development and execution of the charity’s income generation strategy.
- Develop systems to measure the success of our communications.
- Develop and implement an internal communications strategy.
- Support the fundraising committee with marketing their fundraising events.
- Seek opportunities to promote the charity and its services in a variety of ways.
- Support a team of Community Ambassador volunteers to promote the work of Sight Concern Worcestershire.
- Build relationships with other charities, professionals and organisations across Worcestershire to promote the charity’s services.
General

Person specification
- Specialist Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of graphic design packages such as Canva or Adobe.
- Knowledge and experience of using social media platforms.
- Understanding of the impact of sensory loss on access to information and how to overcome these barriers.
- Experience of working in a marketing and communications role or a relevant qualification.
- Experience of event organisation and/or management. (Desirable)
