SUMMARY:Go Bright for Sight on National Sunglasses Day
DESCRIPTION:Worcestershire Goes Bright for Sight on National Sunglasses Day\nSight Concern Worcestershire and our supporters are getting excited abou t delving into the dressing up box to wear our brightest\, funkiest outfits and sunglasses on Thursday\, 27th June 2019\, National Sunglasses Day. \nSight Concern Worcestershire are your county charity helping support blind and partially sighted people to lead independent and fulfilling lives.  Jenny Gage\, Chief Officer says “National Sunglasses Day is the ideal opportunity to remind people about the importance of protecting their eyes\, particularly children. Children spend three times more time outside and\, unlike adults\, children’s eyes are less able to filter out the UV rays\, making them more susceptible to eye damage from UV rays. Parents should always make sure that children’s sunglasses include a UV protection label.” \nSight Concern are thrilled that Thursfields are proudly sponsoring Going Bright for Sight on Sunglasses Day. Nick O’Hara\, Managing Director said “. All too often we take our eyesight for granted. There are steps we can all take to alleviate the risks of forming eye conditions such as cataracts. Thursfields will be donning their brightest gear on 27th June and we invite other businesses to join in to help raise further funds for this great cause.   We hope our support over the next 12 months will help Sight Concern provide much needed support services across our region.” \nIt is easy for everyone to get involved whether it is schools\, workplaces or nurseries\, regardless of age\, we can all do our bit to help support a brighter future for local blind and partially sighted people. \nTo get involved\, order your free resources with Bright for Sight sunglasses\, garland and tutu! Sight Concern also has a specially designed bunting available to download to turn your work place Bright for Sight. Email info@sightconcern.co.uk with your address or call 01905 723245. Further information is available at https://www.sightconcern.co.uk/sunglasses-day \n  \nKindly Sponsored by

SUMMARY:
DESCRIPTION:Are you looking for an exciting new challenge? Why not join our award-winning team at Sight Concern?   \nSight Concern Worcestershire is a well-established charity offering support to over 2000 people affected by sight loss. Our team of Sight Loss Advisors play a vital role in supporting people to lead independent and fulfilling lives. Our staff and volunteers are at the heart of what we do; it’s through their skill and effort that we help people to adapt to sight loss and play an active role in society. We offer specialist training for all our roles. \nWe are recruiting a Sight Loss Advisor for the Worcester City area who can: \n\nSupport people to make informed choices by providing information and advice\nWork with people on a one to one basis to obtain the appropriate support\, services and equipment to enable them to lead an independent life\nFacilitate a monthly sight loss information and support group to enable people with sight loss to learn new skills and develop confidence. \n\n A full\, clean driving licence and use of a car is essential.  If unable to drive due to a disability\, we can support you to obtain an Access to Work grant to employ a driver.   \nThis is a part-time role\, 18 hours per week. \nA comprehensive training program is provided. \nWhat is it like to work with Sight Concern? \nThe people who work here are the best people to say what it’s like to be a part of Sight Concern. Here’s what staff members said about their work: \n\n“For me\, the most rewarding thing is that we make a difference to people’s lives\, whether it be with practical or emotional support.  For example\, we may be able to make suggestions about how to label food tins to make food preparation easier\, or support people to access a computer class so that they can stay in contact with family overseas.”\n“Whether it’s people who use our services\, or our volunteers or our staff\, we help people reach new heights and achieve things they didn’t believe possible. That’s the best thing for me.”\n\n  \nHere’s what our clients said about our LocalEyes service: \n\n“This is the first time I’ve felt part of a community – that I belong”\n\n  \n\n“Attending the Group has given me greater confidence and communication skills”\n\n  \n\n“Thank you for all your help\, I have really appreciated it”\n\n  \n\n“There’s always someone to rely on to get information and this is what’s impressive”\n\n  \nIf you have a positive attitude and a passion for enabling people to reach their full potential\,    we would love to hear from you. To download our recruitment pack which describes the role in more detail\, please go to www.sightconcern.co.uk/job-vacancies/ \nFor an informal chat about the role\, please call Katy Wakefield on 01905 723245. The closing date for applications is 8th July 2019 at 5pm.
