Throughout April the members of the Sight Concern Art Group will be displaying their works of art at Malvern Library.
With thanks to the artists and Marian Edwards
Alongside this event there will be craft workshops aimed at those who have sight loss.
These events are:
Make Beautiful Gifts from Felt by Vanessa Heywood – 7th & 21st April 2018
Workshop 1 – 7th April 2018 11:00-14:00
Learn the art of wet felt-making and then make an item tailored to choice. You will learn techniques for ‘preparing the fibre’ t0 produce a ‘felted fabric’ followed by ‘palming’ to produce a stronger cloth.
Workshop 2 – 21st April 2018 11:00-14:00
Participants can ‘decorate’ felted objects or make the felted fabric into an object such as a decorative flower or brooch, a bookmark, mobile phone cover or even a hand made card depending on skill level.
Listen Again with Peter Walden – 11th April 2018 12:00-13:30
After a long career of full timeoboe playing in the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and of guest appearances in most other UK orchestras, Peter Walden is now keen to share his knowledge and enthusiasm for music with others. With his oboe, a digital recorder adn some simple percussion instruments, he invites you to join him at Malvern Library to ‘Listen Again’ and explore and compose music together
Garden of Curiosity with Philly Hunt – 18th & 26th April 2018
Season 1 ‘Sowing the seeds’ – 18th April 2018 11:00-14:00
Join local artists to plot a sensory walkway through the garden of Malver Library. Learn and share your experiences of gardens, both private and public and make a ‘pocket garden’ from natural and art materials.
Season 2 ‘Growing the ideas’ – 26th April 2018 13:30-16:30
Create portable gardens in the form of sculptural arrangements, mobiles and printed pieces. Taking the notion of Oriental Gardens we’ll work with textiles, print & natural materials to create personal souvenirs.
Monoprint Workshop with Andrew Judd – 28th April 2018 11:00-13:00
Explore the art of printmaking. In this workshop, participants will have a go at making prints from found or brought objects or from inked plates. A selection of textured things will be available but participants may wish to bring things of their own choice – like leaves, feathers etc.
Andrew will explain the range of possibilities, procedures, and limitations. He will also provide paper, inks, rollers, printing plates, cleaning material and a book press and/or an Adana 8×5 press with come metal or wood type.
All workshops are FREE to attend but due to limited spaces, advance booking is essential
