Fundraising event
The therapist together with some of our Centre users are putting on an event on Fri 5th March at the Kings Arms, Beoley Road, Redditch, this is to raise money to buy a new therapy bed that can be raised and lowered so everyone will be able to access it. The evening will start at 7.30 and finishing at approx 11.30. The entry fee for the event is £5 which includes a buffet and there will be a raffle and other things.
We shall be selling tickets for the raffle here from this week at £1 for a strip of 5, please ask at reception if you would like some, also and if anyone would like to donate a prize we would be grateful.
The organisers organised a mini bus from Worcester to pick up at a central point and if there is room they will pick up on the way to Redditch. If anyone is interested, please let us know and we will pass your names along to the organisers.
Holiday 2010
Once again it is the time of the year to start planning this year’s trip. We shall be going to the Russell Hotel in Bognor Regis organised once again by Creative Travel in conjunction with Action for Blind Hotels on Mon 20th Sept until Fri 24th Sept.
The cost of the holiday will be £287.00 which includes breakfast and evening meal, insurance and trips each day accompanied by a courier. The trips will be to Worthing, Chichester and Portsmouth.
If you have expressed an interest in going on the holiday we will help you to complete the booking form and send that and your deposit off to Creative Travel. There are only 10 single rooms without supplement so it is first come first served there, when they are all gone if anyone wants a single room there will be a £30 supplement to pay. We must also ask that if you know you need help and support or are unable to find your way about in unfamiliar locations on your own, that you find a friend or carer to come along with you on this trip.
Data Link
Data Link is a voluntary scheme for anyone who lives alone who might be reassured to know that essential information would be readily available to the Emergency Services should they suffer an accident or sudden illness.
It works by having your details stored in a clearly labelled plastic container which is kept in your fridge. Two matching labels, known to the Emergency Services and other care agencies are displayed in your house, one on the outside of your fridge door and the other on the inside of your front door.
We have access to a supply of these and we would be able to help you fill in the information so please let us know in the Centre Office if you would like one of these containers.
Cards for all Occasions
We have been given a beautiful ion of cards which can be used for any occasion. They were created by a Centre user’s wife and are really lovely. There are photos of the surrounding countryside and some pretty flowers and really anyone who got one would be delighted I’m sure. They are on display in reception and we shall be selling them for £1 each, 60p of which will come to us.
